How Our Record Label Runs Behind the Scenes

Running an independent record label can be a challenging but rewarding endeavor. As an independent label, we have to be nimble, creative, and resourceful to compete in a crowded and ever-changing industry. In this blog post, we'll take a behind-the-scenes look at how our independent record label operates and how we're able to succeed in an industry dominated by major labels.

 

One of the most important aspects of running an independent label focused on ethics and sustainability is finding and signing talented artists who display our core values. This involves a lot of networking, attending live performances, and scouting for new talent through online platforms and other channels. Once we've discovered an artist we may want to work with, we spend a lot of time with them recording demos in the studio, and hanging out with them to gain a sense of their personality over time. If both the artist and our team agree the relationship works, we then move to negotiating a contract that outlines the terms of our partnership, including distribution, royalties, and other important details.

 

Once an artist is signed, we'll work closely with them to develop and promote their music and image. This involves everything from scheduling recording sessions to coordinating music videos, photoshoots and the release of new albums and singles. We'll also work with the artist to develop marketing and promotional strategies that will help to raise their profile and increase their fan base.

 

Managing finances and revenue streams is also an important aspect of running an independent label. This involves tracking income from album sales, streaming royalties, and other sources, as well as managing expenses such as studio time, marketing campaigns, and tour expenses. We'll also work with artists to ensure that they are receiving fair compensation for their work, and to manage any legal issues that may arise.

 

Finally, as an independent label, we have to be creative and resourceful when it comes to marketing and promotion. This may involve leveraging social media platforms, partnering with independent media outlets, and organizing DIY events and concerts. We also place a strong emphasis on building relationships with our fans and creating a sense of community around our artists and their music.

 

Running an independent record label requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and creativity. While we may not have the resources and clout of major labels, we're able to succeed by staying true to our values, working closely with our artists, and building strong relationships with our fans and industry partners. And at the end of the day, it's all worth it when we see our artists succeed and our music making a positive impact on the world!
