The First Time Rachel Winnick Recorded in the Studio

Who would have thought that when I first invited Rachel Winnick to the newly constructed studio, she would become one of our most promising instrumental artists?!

Up until this point, it had been difficult for her to find producers with songs that she could use her majestic voice to its full potential.

I showed her some of the beats I made a while back, and Rachel loved what she heard.

Specifically, this beat I titled "Summer" struck a... chord with her. Lol

With the fire beat selected, I asked Rachel what she wanted to sing about? What was on her mind that could

elicit strong emotions?

Dating apps.

Sheesh!

I knew the vibes, off the bat–dating apps have been torturous, to say the least, for anyone looking for a

meaningful long term relationship.

Tinder, Hinge, Bumble, the whole lot of ‘em.

I continued my investigation into her troubled dating life whilst scribbling away.

Sorrows, frustrations, hopes and dreams; all into lyrics.

I progressed into laying melody to lyrics, singing them aloud, aiming to capture the angelic voice that I hoped

Rachel would then put on the track.

When Rachel started singing the song, we realized at once we struck something that captured the essence of

our generation.

Rachel then took the night to rehearse what I had recorded in voice memos to prepare for the real work to begin.

When Rachel came back the next day, she was waiting to set the mic ablaze.

With me behind the board coaching, producing and Rachel behind the mic, the music making process felt like a

zing of energy; pure magic was being tracked into the DAW.

"You know what, I find most damaging, Tinder, Hinge, Dating in our 20s"....

I cut in every once in a while, with an "Ooo sing it more like this!”.

Our ideas were bouncing off each other like popcorn.

Big T, the co-founder and CEO of the label, made his way downstairs to listen in.

“Her voice is outstanding, that’s all I could think about. I knew we had to sign her right then and there”.

Rachel looks back fondly on this memory, saying:

"I think my favorite part was coming up with the mid-section where we recorded our own phone sound samples to further immerse the listener and have them think about their own phone user experience during the song!"

Although ‘Dating 2020s’ was the first song Rachel Winnick recorded with Pure Artist Music LLC, it has been scheduled to be released with some other incredible tracks in Rachel's Bubblegum EP Vol. 2 in November on a streaming platform near you!
